Q: DirectX
A: This game is optimised for Microsoft's DirectX 9.0c. In order for you to play the game, you must have DirectX 9.0c-compliant drivers for your video card and sound card. Please note that although DirectX 9.0c is installed with the game, your video and sound card drivers will not be upgraded to DirectX 9.0c drivers.

Q: Memory and Performance
A: While the game will run fine with 256Mb of RAM, your playing experience will be smoother if you have at least 512Mb.

Regardless of how much memory you have, you can maximize your available memory and increase the overall performance of the game engine by doing the following:

  • Closing any open windows
  • Shutting down all other programs, including menu-bar programs like ICQ
  • Defragmenting your hard drive

We recommend that you have no other programs running at all while playing Imperial Glory. Other programs, including system utilities and screen savers, can cause system degradation when playing games software and may conflict with the game for system resources, potentially resulting in instability and crashes.

Q: Known Issues
A: If you experience problems when configuring your machine as the Host of a multiplayer game, check if you are behind a firewall or connecting via a router. You will only be able to host a game if UPnP protocol is enabled on your firewall and router, or if you have manually opened Port 6601.

Alt-Tabbing, and any form of returning to Desktop, during gameplay is not supported.

Running dual processors (two processors or more), and the game is having issues.

This problem occurs because most of our games were not designed with dual processors in mind, therefore they cannot take advantage of dual processors.  You will need to set the game to run on one processor:

This problem is fixed easily by assigning only one CPU to the game process. To do this, launch the game, and before starting a the game (while in the menu) hit CTRL+ALT+DEL and select "Task Manager". In "Applications" select game, right click on it and select "Goto Process", right click on the process and select "Set Affinity". Here you are able to set whatever CPUs you want to the game Process. Select only a single CPU to run the process, and apply the new settings. Return to your game and play the game, the symptoms of running Duel CPUs should disappear.

While playing, I can't save my game!

The most common cause for this problem to occur is playing Imperial Glory on an unsupported operating system. Imperial Glory will only run correctly on Windows 2000 and XP. Running Imperial Glory on Windows 95/98/ME/NT will result in conflicts and other problems that have no solutions. We apologize for the inconvenience.

When trying to play a Land Battle, my game crashes.

This crash most often occurs due to outdated video and/or sound card drivers. First, you need to identify the make and model of your video and sound cards. You can do this by running the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. Click on Start and click Run. Type in DXDIAG and click on OK/Run, this will bring up the tool. Click on the Display tab and check what it lists next to Name under Device. This will be the make and model of your video card. For your sound card information, click on the Sound tab and check the name under device. Once you have this information, visit either the card manufacturer's website or your computer manufacturer's website for available updates. Make sure to uninstall the old driver(s) before installing the new versions.
If you are unsure how to do this, contact the hardware manufacturer for instructions.

Once your drivers have been updated, uninstall Imperial Glory, and delete any Imperial Glory folders that have been left behind after uninstalling. (You will lose your saved games). Finally, reinstall the game, and it should no longer crash.

When trying to start Imperial Glory I receive an "Application Failed to Initialize" error message.

The "Application Failed to Initialize" error message is usually caused by 1 of 2 issues. The most common cause is the video card. If you are running any of the integrated Intel graphics chips on your system, such as the Intel 82845G, 82865G, 82915G, etc… Imperial Glory will not run. The Intel video chips do not support Hardware Transform and Lighting (TnL), which Imperial Glory does require to run. However, there was a patch released
for Imperial Glory that should fix this problem, as long as your video card meets the games requirement of 64MB of video ram. Install the patch as instructed above, and it should fix the problem you are seeing.

The other possible cause is your operating system. If you are running Windows 95, 98, ME, or NT, this game will not run. Compatibility issues related to the Win 95/98/ME/NT operating systems cause problems for this game's engine. Imperial Glory will only run on Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

When trying to start Imperial Glory I receive an error saying "License Date not valid".

This error message occurs when the internal Windows calendar is set to the wrong year. If you double click on the clock in the Windows system tray on the desktop, make sure the time and date are set correctly.  Then give the game another try.
